What Fairway is like
Is Fairway employee-owned?

Holly Mattson President of Recruiting, Fairway
Yes. Fairway launched its Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 2016, and the company is being sold back to the Fairway team — the people who built it, own it. For an originator, that means the leadership making platform decisions has the same long-term interest in the company you do.
This one changes how people hear everything else about Fairway, so it is worth being precise.
The ESOP started in 2016. Employees became owners through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. Fairway was already twenty years old and well past $1 billion in annual fundings when it happened — this was a deliberate choice about who the company should belong to, not a startup perk.
The company is being sold back to the team. Fairway is in the process of being sold back to its own employees. The phrase we use inside the building is simple: the people who built it, own it.
Why it matters to a loan officer. Ownership shows up in decisions. When leadership invests in technology, an AI layer, an in-house marketing studio, and nonprofits, they are investing in a company they share with you — not optimizing a quarter for someone else. It also shows up in retention: see do loan officers who leave come back.
It is also why the culture holds. Six consecutive Top Workplaces awards are hard to fake when every rating comes from an owner.
